More than Just Transferring Film Images
NT Picture & Sound’s custom built clean room is environmentally controlled to minimize dust and dirt using advanced filtration and a positive pressure system.
The DI work flow begins by cleaning the film with an Ultra-sonic film cleaner.
Next, scanning is performed using an Arri scanner at 2K or 4K.
At NT we produce 2K scans by actually scanning at 3K and down converting to 2K.

Input Formats:
STANDARD/ACADEMY 35mm 2 perf, 3 perf and 4 perf in a wide variety of aspect ratios and extractions including:
- SUPER 35mm 3 perf and 4 perf (full ap) Common center, Common top, Anamorphic squeezed, etc.
- 16 mm / SUPER 16mm A-wind or B-wind
In addition to film, any type of HD video can also be ingested into the DI workflow, along with Standard Def and data files. We also support RED Camera™ R3d files.
At the conclusion of the DI process film recording is done with Arri Laser recorders to 35 mm film.
We have calibrated our system to support Kodak® and Fuji color intermediate stocks and various B&W negative and print stocks.
Optical sound tracks including Quad format, DTS™, SDDS®, Dolby® Digital and analog are produced by NT Audio in Santa Monica.
